As you can see hair color levels are measured on a scale from 1 10. The majority of hair color formulas work with a volume developer at level 10 20 30 or 40. Start by determining your natural level and your current level if your hair is colored. Semipermanent hair color typically won t show on level 1 hair at all as the base is too dark for any pigment to be visible.

The 10 volume developer is a standard oxidizing level for permanent no lift hair color. Level 1 is black and level 10 is a very light blonde. Without haircoloring most people will completely become gray. Volume 10 is the weakest developer level as it contains only 3 hydrogen peroxide.

One can use hair color levels to tell how light or dark a shade of hair. Permanent hair color is considered. This hair color is almost never found naturally but is relatively common in hair dye and can be achieved with bleach but that can be damaging and take a while. It is also recommended if you have thin or fine hair as it will not be too strong.
