By ensuring the floor of your terrarium is this temperature and the air temperature isn t far off this usually happens automatically unless you are in a very cold place your leopard gecko will be happy and healthy. Like other reptiles leopard geckos are cold blooded. Instead of producing their own heat like mammals they instead regulate their temperature by moving around their environment. This means that they depend on outside heat to stay warm.

The thing is leopard geckos are cold blooded lizards and are ecotherms. Assuming everyone sleeps around 8 hours per night having your leopard gecko go that long in an overly cold tank could be very bad for it and you might even start to see symptoms of having a cold room show in your leopard gecko when you wake up in the morning. If your leopard gecko is on the hot side then chances are that they ll feel a lot warmer than they would be when on the cold side. My cool side temp is 21 23c and warm side is 27 30c at night although i will be lowering it 2c on my night setting.
