Let it cure out and off gas for a day or two. Clean any bits of degraded flaking or disintegrating rubber or non skid backing from the rug. Posted by jennyk at 10 26 pm on august 28 2008. Rubber backing is great to keep scatter rugs in place but rubber breaks down over time. Get a 6 wide putty knife and a paint brush.
